For years, Simone Fitzgerald has battled to live a normal life, despite the multitude of voices she constantly hears. It seems she's succeeding, until an angel appears and asks her to embrace her gifts and stand as a prophet. When demon forces mobilize the creatures of legend against mankind and the wrath of The Creator burns hot against creation, is one mom strong enough to embrace the light and bring peace to the universe, or will she be crushed under the weight of the burden she's been asked to bear?

First and foremost, the writing is absolutely beautiful. It, alone, pulled me into the novel, but fascinating and highly imaginative world and plot certainly kept me going.

Simone is an ordinary mom of two boys and a loving wife who happens to also hear voices. Some taunt her, others are having normal conversations that she merely overhears. She's sure she's crazy, but her loving husband doesn't react as though it's true.

Then one day, Simone is visited by an angel and is told something she fears more than going crazy: she's sane. The voices are those of creatures in other dimensions, layered over-top of one another which creates a tapestry that fits perfectly together. All by That Which Is.

While this is a novel with deep-seated spiritual ideas and concepts, it isn't preachy at all. The author focuses on an idea of oneness and love, not on religion where a person has to perform certain tasks or take on a certain role. It shows and pushes unconditional love.

There is much I love about this novel, but there were also a few things that brought this down a star for me. The main issue was the overabundance of characters. With a novel about an epic battle between good and evil, there were a few characters killed along the way. Unfortunately, so many names were brought into the novel, characters in and out of the main focus, that I couldn't mourn any of them (save for one, a real heart-breaker near the end).

Another issue is that this novel could have easily been longer and more immersive if certain scenes had been expanded. For instance, there is a summary of "others" and legends introducing themselves to the world. There is very little concrete description of these creatures or what they said or how the audience at these introductions reacted. At least one or two should have have been shown in full-scene, providing the audience to feel the awe of the situation.

Aside from those two issues, this novel was pure pleasure. Below are some of my favorite lines:

His green eyes burned like emerald fire against the dark canvass of his skin.

[An angel to Simone] "My ability to intercede with man is limited. Can you build a tunnel for the ants? Even with all your strength and knowledge?"

Susan blushed to the very roots of her hair.

And there were so many more! I can't wait for this author's next novel.

This is one for my Must Read list!

Can't wait for the next one. Love the writing style.
I wasn’t quite sure what the genre of this book was when I began, and I still can’t say for sure now that I’m done. What I can say is it felt like it was written for me. Inspired by a love of God and satisfyingly contemporary all at once. In some ways it reminds me of the Twilight books, yet it is original in every way. I could easily see this made into a Netflix series - so many characters brought to life and a riveting adventure. Loved it, and I’m excited to jump right into book two!
More Things In Heaven And Earth by E.A. Comiskey.
Not at all what I was expecting but very quickly I found it pulled me in, first by excellent writing, second by keen interest for it was unusual, rather like the lake of fire vs angels on high. It's fresh thought provoking, imaginative and thoroughly creative. It nudges one to ponder, not only good and evil, but how we embrace myths, legends, demons, and faith. A very good read by a good author, one I am sure to follow. Five stars to this book… it was deserving!
An epic battle between good and evil told by an author who knows how to grip readers from the first page. The writing is flawless and the characters are well written. Simone has been hearing voices all her life and when she is visited by an angel, her normal life as a mom of two boys takes a dramatic turn. This book is filled with emotion, struggles, and never ending faith. I loved Simone's character. She was strong, but also very believable. I found myself hoping that she would survive to fight the evil that plagued her world and that she was strong enough to battle the internal war she faced. This paranormal fantasy although based on religion is a brilliant read and I can't wait to see what happens in book 2. This is definitely an author to watch.
This book is fabulous. I don't read a lot of books with a supernatural element in them, except maybe the occasional vampire, but this story is very well-crafted and accessible to everyone. There are creatures of myth and religion throughout who battle over control of Earth & all the realms. It is a battle of biblical proportions, without being preachy. The villain builds his power by feeding off something we are all guilty of every day. I can't tell you anymore, except that you should read this novel & I can't wait for the next one.
Amazing! This book has the potential to restore one's faith! Ms. Comiskey's writing style is superb in every way, having a clear understanding of the human condition and mastery over the use of creative language when using First Person POV. The paragraphs flowed with ease and reading the words on the page was the equivalent to fresh air for avid readers!

I thoroughly enjoyed the character development throughout the book. Though the story is in First Person, you can still connect with any of the characters that interact with the protagonist as the author does well with describing facial expressions, body language and other universally emotional human reactions.

With one of the central themes appearing at first to be good vs. evil, you'd think that the suspense (also done very well), is building toward an epic battle of sorts, but as we continue reading we find that faith and hope are the keys to survival in this darkening world, and the surprising direction the author takes is refreshing.

On a final note, I find it incredible how the author finds a way to tie in all manners and beings of multiple myths and legends into one story without dealing with the challenge of discordance or "cluttter." The Norse goddess Freyja is sitting at the dinner table with the Greek god Hermes and an archangel of the Lord, while vampires, werewolves, fairies, and orcs are choosing where their loyalties lie...and it all seems to work! Amazingly creative and imaginative!

I would recommend this story to anyone, regardless of their personal choice of religion.
